Something a bit different

What a busy week!!  I had visitors all weekend and then spent three days with my youngest granddaughter in the following week which was brilliant but hectic.  Was also trying my best to complete the scrapbook I mentioned in an earlier post and believe it or not IT'S FINISHED!!!  It has been a labour of love but caused so much anxiety and stress trying to finish it on time.  I can't share any of it with you just yet as it would spoil the surprise for the recipient but I will soon, promise.

Today's card is a little bit different for me and I loved making it.  I have used some beautiful stamps from Lavinia Stamps and also one from Clarity Stamps.  I hope you like it.

Happy crafting.

Glamour Girl

Hi there

Don't want to speak too soon but it looks like it may be a nice day today and not before time!!  It is bad enough going to the wardrobe in the morning and finding something that fits well without having to decide what the weather will be like and the in between seasons means that the winter clothes are still hanging around defying you to put them away and the summer clothes are begging to be brought out into the sunshine - what a dilemma!!

Anyway onto today's card.  The beautiful image is one of Krista Smiths called Gypsy Dancer, coloured with Copics - I just love that swirly skirt!! The paper is from Docrafts Daisy and Dandelion Collection - Hawthorn and Bramble, the leafy swirl is a Marianne Die, the ribbon is from Woodware and the flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The pearls are Jewelry Seal Cellphone Stickers and the 6 x 6 card base is from Crafts UK.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's MC - Ribbon or Twine
Joanna Sheen FC - Flower Power
Marianne Design Divas - Pearls and Swirls
Paper Sundaes - Ribbon and Pearls
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Birthday Goes
Whimsy Stamps - Spots and Dots

Thanks for visiting, your comments are always appreciated, happy crafting.

A Little Bit Of Humphrey

Hi there

Only one week into retirement and I am exhausted, so I decided to check out the meaning of 'retirement' and this is what I found:

1.   The action or fact of leaving one's job and ceasing to work!
2.  The period of one's life after leaving one's job and ceasing to work!

I am obviously a novice at this retirement malarkey since I feel more tired this week than when I was working!!  Still, I am prepared to give it more time and to continue purely for research purposes, you understand,  as I am secretly enjoying myself!!

Today's card was made for a close friend and it was created using the following items:

8" x 8" scalloped card From Crafts UK
Papers printed from Humphrey's Corner CD from Crafter's Companion
Marianne Creatables Die
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Magnolia Flower Die from Dies to Die For
Kanban Crystal Gems
Small piece of Mirri Card from my stash
Humphrey's Corner Rubber Stamp from Crafter's Companion
Image was coloured using Copic Pens
White Organza Ribbon from my stash
Flower Brad from my stash

I loved colouring this image as it was very easy to shade and anyway I just love Humphrey!!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

I hope you like it, see you soon.

Back Again

Hello everyone

I haven't been around much recently due to lots of other commitments such as retiring, and subsequently looking after my beautiful grandchildren.  I have also made a start on a scrapbook which I am making for a very special occasion but I can't say too much as it is to be a surprise, but once finished I will post a few of the pages.  It is certainly a labour of love as I have already completed twelve pages and I am not even half way through yet.  As you can imagine this has taken up a lot of my time but now that I have officially joined the ranks of the 'ladies that lunch' I will hopefully have a lot more time for crafting!!

The card above was made a little while ago but I have not been able to post it until now.  The following items were used in its construction:

8" x 8" card blank from Crafts UK
Papers from Pink Petticoat
Ribbon roses from Creative Expressions (purchased from Purple Butterfly Crafts)
Lili of the Valley Image
Magnolia Floral Die
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts

I am entering this card in the Papertake Weekly April Showers (or Water Water Everywhere)
Challenge.

I hope you like the card and I will see you soon.

A little bit of Humphrey

Happy New Year to you all.  Christmas and New Year are all over for the time being but in no time at all we will be starting thinking about it all over again.  My resolution this year has been to make at least one Christmas card each week from now until December so that  I don't end up in such a mad flap at the end of the year!!  So far, I have made 6 cards and I do intend to try and continue as I have begun - watch this space!!!!  We all have good intentions don't we at the start of the year and I have said this very same thing at the beginning of other years but have never actually started so I am a little further forward this year - fingers crossed!

Christmas in our family was very hectic as usual but then it is so much fun and I do love the Christmas season.  We took a trip to the Christmas Markets in Dortmund this year and it was amazing!!  We have never been before and it really has to be experienced to appreciate it fully.  Whilst I was glad of the unusually milder weather, we did miss not seeing any snow - but then I would only have complained about the cold and worried about slipping etc since I am such a wimp when it comes to snow and ice.  The atmosphere was wonderful and so was the Gluhwein!!!  We would definitely go again.

The shopping in Dortmund is incredible and I have never seen so many pairs of boots of all types - every shoe shop, and there were loads, only seemed to stock boots with just a few pairs of shoes.    Obvious really they do usually have bad weather!  Naturally it was necessary (for research purposes) that I purchase a pair and they are the most comfortable I have ever had.  I suppose with so many types being available there is a lot of competition and standards need to be high.  Anyway, we were all 'shopped out'  by the time we got back and although the purpose of the trip was to buy Christmas presents for the family but we did not bring any back!!!  Unfortunately we will have to try again next year!!!

Like most people I did not have a lot of time over the Christmas period for crafting but have soon slipped back into it since returning to work.  The card shown above was based on a sketch challenge at http://stamptacularsundaychallenge.blogspot.com/ and is my entry.  Once again I have used the lovely Humphrey stamped image from Crafters Companion which was coloured with Copics, the pink paper is from a Fizzy Moon paper pack and the rest are from my stash.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the die is a Spellbinders Nestability circle.

I am also entering this card in the Crafter's Companion Love is in the Air challenge.

Off now to make some more cards so see you soon.
