A little bit of Humphrey

Happy New Year to you all.  Christmas and New Year are all over for the time being but in no time at all we will be starting thinking about it all over again.  My resolution this year has been to make at least one Christmas card each week from now until December so that  I don't end up in such a mad flap at the end of the year!!  So far, I have made 6 cards and I do intend to try and continue as I have begun - watch this space!!!!  We all have good intentions don't we at the start of the year and I have said this very same thing at the beginning of other years but have never actually started so I am a little further forward this year - fingers crossed!

Christmas in our family was very hectic as usual but then it is so much fun and I do love the Christmas season.  We took a trip to the Christmas Markets in Dortmund this year and it was amazing!!  We have never been before and it really has to be experienced to appreciate it fully.  Whilst I was glad of the unusually milder weather, we did miss not seeing any snow - but then I would only have complained about the cold and worried about slipping etc since I am such a wimp when it comes to snow and ice.  The atmosphere was wonderful and so was the Gluhwein!!!  We would definitely go again.

The shopping in Dortmund is incredible and I have never seen so many pairs of boots of all types - every shoe shop, and there were loads, only seemed to stock boots with just a few pairs of shoes.    Obvious really they do usually have bad weather!  Naturally it was necessary (for research purposes) that I purchase a pair and they are the most comfortable I have ever had.  I suppose with so many types being available there is a lot of competition and standards need to be high.  Anyway, we were all 'shopped out'  by the time we got back and although the purpose of the trip was to buy Christmas presents for the family but we did not bring any back!!!  Unfortunately we will have to try again next year!!!

Like most people I did not have a lot of time over the Christmas period for crafting but have soon slipped back into it since returning to work.  The card shown above was based on a sketch challenge at http://stamptacularsundaychallenge.blogspot.com/ and is my entry.  Once again I have used the lovely Humphrey stamped image from Crafters Companion which was coloured with Copics, the pink paper is from a Fizzy Moon paper pack and the rest are from my stash.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the die is a Spellbinders Nestability circle.

I am also entering this card in the Crafter's Companion Love is in the Air challenge.

Off now to make some more cards so see you soon.

Humphrey again

Hi everyone

This is a card I will be sending to a very good friend of mine who lives in Suffolk as her birthday is later this week.  I haven't seen her for quite a long time but as with all friends we don't see often we never forget them do we.

The image is Humphrey again as I love this little chap.  The papers are mostly from Pink Petticoat and the rest are from my stash.  The greeting is from Lili of the Valley and the leafy swirl is a Marianne Creatables die.  The border was made using a Spellbinders die. I would have said green was not one of my favourite colours but when I checked my wardrobe there is more in there than I thought, so it must be.

If you fancy a challenge there are lots of crafting goodies up for grabs at Purple Butterfly Crafts who are holding their very first blog challenge so check it out.

Bye for now.

Sof's card

Hi again

I made this card for a special friend on her 30th birthday.  I used an 8 x 8 scalloped card from Craft UK and the papers were all from Pink Petticoat.  The die is a Marianne Creatables (I think), the greeting is from Lili of the Valley and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I also used a Martha Stewart border punch.  The image was coloured using Copics and the ribbon was from my stash.

I am entering this card in the Papertake Weekly Challenge Anything Goes.

See you soon

Tilda in the Pink

Hello again

Before making a long overdue start on my Christmas cards I decided to have a go at the CLP Sketch Challenge No.41 and using the sketch provided I put together this 6 x 6 card.  The base card is smaller than I have been using recently but I was fairly happy with the result.  I have used one of my favourite Magnolia Stamps for the main image and the papers are by Fizzy Moon.  The flower is a Magnolia die and the swirl is a Marianne Creatables die.  Sometimes it is nice to just make a card that is not for a particular person when you have had to make a lot of birthday cards for friends and family.  I have had several birthdays over the past two months and so my time has been taken up with making birthday cards with special people in mind.  I have to make another card this evening for a very special friend who will be 30 years of age on Tuesday.  So back to the grindstone!!!

See you soon.

A card for 105 years

Hello again

I was recently asked to make a card for a gentleman who would be 105 years of age at the beginning of November and after a great deal of thought and several prototypes this finally was the finished article!     I do not know the gentleman personally and I could not help but wonder what must it be like to have lived for so long, and have so many memories.  I hope he likes the card and that he has a lovely day.

Off now to make a few more cards.

Not long to Halloween

Hi everyone

Not been around much recently due to work commitments but hopefully back on track now.  This card has a Halloween flavour to it but I think I could use it for anyone I wish a 'Magical Birthday'.  I am entering this in the Papertake Weekly Challenge.

The papers are from Pink Petticoat and I have used two stamps from Lili of the Valley plus the Martha Stewart branches punch.  I have coloured the image with copics and embellished finally with Card Candy.

Hope you like it.

Happy Birthday Ian

I have made this card for my son Ian's birthday today - Happy Birthday Ian.  I just love the Humphrey's Corner images, they are so easy to colour with Copics or ProMarkers.  The background  paper I used is from my stash and I have no idea when or where I bought it but I felt it was ideal for a masculine card.  I couldn't resist this stamp and couldn't wait to use it and now I can't wait for the new Christmas images being released tomorrow.
